Test your skills as a pilot and enter our “Longest Flight of the Day” contest for your chance to win a prize! The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is thrilled to return to Clergue Park this year to join our fellow community partners in celebrating Cultural Family Fun Day on Friday September 27, 2024 from 11 AM to 3 PM. We will have everything you need to create and decorate your own paper airplane. You can choose to follow the instructions from a variety of different models of paper airplanes we’ll have available–including the plans for the Guiness Book of World Record holder for the longest paper airplane fight–or fashion your own prototype. At the end of the day we will award the longest flight of the day with a prize! This year we are adding a Trivia Wheel to the fun: answer three correct questions to receive a ballot to win our Door Prize. You can also purchase fun STEM games and activities at our Pop-Up Gift Shop. The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre…where adventure takes off!

About

Celebrating culture days with the community partnership between the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre and West End Theatre Project, “Art is in the Air” combines theatrical performances, arts and crafts, movement, history, and the science of flight to create a day full of “edutainment.” Joining forces to promote the Busphlane Museum’s cross-generational programming for children and seniors and West End Theatre Project’s 2023/2024 season, this cultural combo is guaranteed to offer something for everyone!

The Sunday October 1, 2023 morning session is geared to children and families with a half hour stage show featuring musical performances, sing-alongs, and ventriloquism with “Earl the Bush Pilot.” Following the 11:00 AM performance, children will be engaged with aeronautically themed arts and crafts and activities that will teach them about airplanes and flight.

The Sunday October 1, 2023 afternoon session will appeal to adults and seniors as West End Theatre Project presents a cabaret-style musical revue showcasing dynamic musical theatre performances including selections from West End Theatre Project’s exciting upcoming season. Following the 2:00 PM performance, audiences will be invited to participate in a sampling of the programming the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre will offer older adults throughout the museum’s “Thursdays at the Bushplane” series.
