Financial Coordinator

Co-ordinates the Bushplane’s day-to-day finances, applying best practices to improve efficiency, increase profits, manage costs and prevent shortages The Finance Co-ordinator also manages the monthly reporting (except payroll) for Entomica.

Responsibilities and Duties

In this role, you’ll be working closely under the guidance of the Finance Manager, with a strong connection to both the Executive Director and Treasurer.

Your job is to keep an eye out for any financial discrepancies and advise the team accordingly. You’ll be hands-on with our accounting software, Sage, handling everything from posting and balancing payables and receivables to creating and printing checks.

Your day-to-day will also involve keeping our bank statements, credit card statements, and transactions with third-party payment methods like Stripe in check. Not to mention, you’ll manage daily cash disbursements, make bank deposits, and keep our petty cash reconciled.

Whenever needed, you’ll whip up invoices and follow set procedures to ensure everything runs smoothly.

You’ll also play a crucial role in developing and applying policies and procedures that not only improve our financial accountability but also aim to prevent loss and reduce liability. 

Besides the number crunching, you’ll process mail, organize cheques, invoices, statements, and correspondence.

Your reporting and clerical skills will shine through in filing, managing visitor and sales reports, handling memberships, and diving into data entry and analysis. 

Job Specifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience managing accounts, financial documents, budgets and payroll. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to exercise due diligence and implement effective risk management techniques. 
  • Mid-level financial experience in the not-for-profit industry.  
  • Prudent and appropriate human resource experience in the management of staff and volunteers. 
  • Knowledge of Simply Accounting software, an asset. 
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and partnerships with stakeholders. 
  • Ability to develop reports and make recommendations for improvements. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking. 
  • Self-starter and motivated.

Wages & Benefits

$19-$20/hr
Health and dental benefits after six months.
Free Bushplane membership after 3 months.
