Associated lessons are encouraged before and after a field trip. Many students may not have been to a museum before, and it is helpful to establish the rules of a museum while getting them excited to come and see everything we have to offer.

The Grade Six Flight program is the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre’s flagship educational school program.
This full-day excursion includes a guided tour of the museum’s bushplane exhibits, animating the history of bushplanes in the North while exploring the development of aircraft design from the early 20th century to the present day.
Lesson plans and interactive experiments cover curriculum expectations including the Properties of Air, Bernoulli’s Principle, Newton’s Laws of Motion and more in a fun and exciting way!
With a world-class museum featuring 24 full size aircraft as their classroom, students will learn experientially about the axes of flight, control surfaces and the history of waterbombing which began right here in Sault Ste. Marie. After boarding the museum’s CL 215 water bomber, your class will enjoy a private viewing of the Wildfires movie where they will see a waterbomber in action and they’ll wrap up their day with the challenge of a completing a Rhyming Riddle Scavenger Hunt.
You can choose to add a 30-minute Living Things and Flight presentation from the Education Team at Entomica to your tour package to enhance your students’ Grade 6 Flight experience.

Tour + hour of educational programming. The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre Education Team can program curriculum-based learning for grades K-8. Students will receive a tour incorporating components of the Ontario Curriculum for the appropriate grade level and will explore concepts of history, science, math, engineering and technology through experimentation, art and other hands-on activities. Curriculum-based School Tours include a 45-minute guided tour, a viewing of Wildfires and an hour of curriculum-based programming. We are happy to organize space for a nutrition break.
