We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generous support of Rotary North, our Grade 6 Theory of Flight program is now complimentary for all Grade 6 classes in the Algoma District for the rest of this school year.
This initiative, typically valued at $15 per student, is an exciting opportunity for teachers to take advantage of this curriculum based program at no cost. Join us in this educational adventure, proudly sponsored by Sault North Rotary Club.
The Grade Six Theory of Flight program is the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre’s flagship educational school program. Teachers select from an A La Carte Lesson Plan Menu, giving them control over which topics are discussed during the Bushplane Field Trip. If you’re uncertain how to teach this unit, we can provide instruction that covers all elements of the curriculum as well as before- and after-visit activities and lessons to use in the classroom.
All Grade 6 Theory of Flight programs includes a guided tour of the museum’s bushplane exhibits, animating the history of bushplanes in the North while exploring the development of aircraft design from the early 20th century to the present day. Each student is given a balsa wood plane kit to take home. See the Grade Six Theory of Flight A La Carte Lesson Plan Menu.
Tour + hour of educational programming. The Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre Education Team can program curriculum-based learning for grades K-8. Students will receive a tour incorporating components of the Ontario Curriculum for the appropriate grade level and will explore concepts of history, science, math, engineering and technology through experimentation, art and other hands-on activities. Curriculum-based School Tours include a 45-minute guided tour, a viewing of Wildfires and an hour of curriculum-based programming. We are happy to organize space for a nutrition break. See grade-specific curriculum programming.
Excursions are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
