About Douglas Bradford
Ojibwa Northern Ontario Watercolour Artist.
Born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie with Ojibwa roots from Batchewana First Nation, Doug Bradford is a self-taught watercolour artist inspired by the landscapes and people of Northern Ontario. Art runs deep in his family, all five siblings are artists, influenced by their mother, Louise Bradford, a founding member of the Algoma Arts Society.
Doug’s portraits reflect the rugged spirit of the North. He’s been a longtime community supporter, offering workshops to local youth and Indigenous Elders, and co-founding the Four and Friends Art Show in Bruce Mines for over 20 years.
His work has been recognized nationally through the Canadian Forces Artist Program, with pieces housed in the War Museum in Ottawa and featured in the book A Brush With War. He was also commissioned to commemorate the Canadian Navy’s 100th anniversary and was inducted into the Sault Ste. Marie Walk of Fame in 2006.
