Engine Test Cell

Engine Test Cell

Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre is the only non-military air hangar to have an engine test cell exhibit on site. Come inside and check out this marvel of technology or view it through the control room window at the still-operational control panel!

Engines would be run in the test cell for seven hours straight to test their capability and strength, and to make sure that they were running to the manufacturer’s specifications (for example, producing 450 horsepower and 32 inches of boost at 2300 RPMs).  The engines were also tested to make sure that they were burning the right amount of oil and fuel at each RPM stage or power setting.
